‘Forget Me Not Veteran’s Park’ Receives $2000 From Rotary Club of T-or-C

Forget Me Not Veteran’s Park is a non-profit organization located between Socorro and Truth or Consequences, New Mexico that provides housing solutions for homeless veterans in the area.

The organization operates as a 501(c)(3) and is dedicated to addressing the urgent need for affordable and dignified housing for veterans who have served their country. Forget Me Not Park constructs small, energy-efficient homes that are tailored to the specific needs and preferences of veterans.

The Truth or Consequences Rotary Club presented the Forget Me Not Park with a $2,000 check to help with operational costs. The funds were secured through the joint efforts of the Club’s foundation chair, Rebecca Dow and Representative Gail Armstrong.

“Our Club is often approached to fill an unmet need in our community,” said Rebecca Dow. “It’s absolutely heartbreaking to see veteran’s sleeping in tents and cars along the Rio Grande. Not by choice, but out of necessity. When I heard about the Forget Me Not Park, I knew the T-or-C Rotary would want to be part of a sustainable solution.”

Representative Gail Armstrong shared her support, saying, “These homes provide a safe and stable environment for veterans to live independently, while receiving necessary support services, such as counseling, job training, community support, and other resources to help them reintegrate into society.”

Daun Medaris and Roxann Scott, the co-founders of the Park, shared their heart for veterans who are left behind. “This organization is committed to empowering veterans and helping them regain their self-sufficiency and dignity, they shared. “Through partnerships with local businesses, government agencies, and community organizations, Forget Me Not Park is able to provide a comprehensive support network for veterans in need.”

Overall, Forget Me Not Park is making a significant impact in the lives of veterans in the Socorro and T-or-C area by providing them with a place to call home and the resources they need to rebuild their lives.
